About

Hi, I'm Sylvain.

Software engineer. Dividend investor. Builder of DividendsCut.

I'm not a financial advisor and not a Wall Street analyst. I'm a software engineer who holds dividend-paying stocks, and one day I found out about a cut five days after it happened — from a weekend newsletter.

DividendsCut was the answer to that frustration: a focused tool that watches the tickers you actually hold and emails you the moment one of them cuts its dividend. No predictions, no opinions, no noise.

What I'm offering you

The promise is narrow on purpose:

  • Reliable detection. Daily checks against current declaration data. If a stock you track cuts, suspends, or eliminates its dividend, the system flags it.
  • Quick alerts. Email out within minutes of detection — typically within 24 hours of the company's announcement.
  • Honest sources. Market data from Financial Modeling Prep. When I cite research on the blog, I point to the original studies — I don't invent figures to sound smart.
  • No financial advice. What to do when an alert lands is your call. The tool exists to make sure the information reaches you on time.

What this isn't

It isn't a hedge fund newsletter, a stock-picking service, or a "next 10X dividend" prediction engine. It detects what's been declared and tells you about it. That's the whole product.

The blog cites academic research because it helps frame why the alerts matter — but the value is in the email landing in your inbox at 9am on a Tuesday, not in any opinion I might have about the market.
